Altar Guild

Who:              Anyone Age 13 and up

When:            Weekly

Call:               Bev Tiffany at 687-2412

Members of the Altar Guild prepare the appointments in the church and the communion vessels and elements for services and such special occasions as funerals, baptisms, etc. They also cleanse the chalices and other communion vessels after services.

All that is required is an interest in serving the church is this way and a little training in what needs to be done.

The time involved includes about an hour on Saturday mornings, to get the elements and appointments ready for Sunday. On Sunday morning, for the 9:00am service, you should arrive about 8:30am, to get the vessels and elements out of the vault and at their proper places in the church.  After the 9:00am service, cleanse the vessels and put them and any leftover consecrated elements in the vault.

The only training required is a run through with an Altar Guild member and, then, work with another member a few times. Members rarely work alone, they usually serve as a team.

Building & Grounds Committee

Who:              Adults of St. Pauls

When:            Monthly

Call:               Mike Medovich at 659-3350

This committee oversees the St. Pauls church buildings and the church property.  This includes prioritizing the work needing to be done, working the Vestry to obtain funding, and then either coordinating the work of volunteers or working with a local contractor.  Sometimes, members of the committee complete the work themselves, but often they solicit outside assistance.

Recent projects have included repairing the roof over the Lady Chapel, repairing the gutters, and completing a study of site drainage.  This group is currently studying the addition of a new elevator.

Care Team Ministry

Who:              Our Registered Nurses and other concerned parishioners

When:            Several times/year

Call:                Elaine Carril at 642-3579

The St. Paul's Care Team Ministry promotes the physical and spiritual health of persons in our parish and our local community.   As part of this care, regular programs are conducted including blood pressure screenings, speakers, and distribution of health-related information.

Also, a volunteer list is maintained.  This list is matched against the transportation, shopping, errands, and visitation needs of others within the community as members of St. Pauls give some of their many talents and time.

Rehearsals are every Wednesday at 7:00pm in the choir room.

Junior Choir

Children and teens in the Junior Choir will rehearse after the 9:00am service on Sundays, and sing an anthem in church once or twice a month. They will also learn the canticles and sing on the Morning Prayer Sundays.

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

Who:              Women of St. Pauls

When:            Third Thursday of the Month

Call:               Pat Liddington at 642-3420

The ECW is one of the oldest continuous groups in the church. Every Episcopal woman is automatically a member and is entitled to attend meetings and participate in ECW activities.

Our purpose is to assist with the many functions of the church and to raise money for outreach projects and for the general fund of the church. St. Paul’s ECW holds several fund-raisers each year. These include “Holly Day” each fall, which consists of a country store and a beef-stew luncheon, a chicken and biscuit dinner sometime during the year, and rummage sales.

We meet on the third Thursday of each month at 11:00 am, with a luncheon at noon.  We are always looking for new members.

Lay Readers

Who:              Adult members of St. Pauls

When:            During Worship Services

Call:               Laura Coppens at 625-5142

Two things are going on here: (1) reading the lessons, the responsive psalm, and the Prayers of the People; (2) passing the chalice at the Eucharist. Although anyone may read the lessons, etc., only those licensed by the Diocese are permitted to pass the cup. At St. Paul’s, lay readers perform both functions; therefore, they have to be licensed, which requires that they be baptized and confirmed.

The designated lay reader for each Sunday reads and passes the cup at both services. At the 9:00am service, a second person acts as “Chalice” and typically leads the psalm and helps pass the cup at the Eucharist.

Stewardship Committee

Who:              Adult members of St. Pauls

When:            3-4 Meetings/year

Call:               Jamie Cornell at 748-0714

The St. Paul's Stewardship Committee organizes and leads our giving of time, talents, and treasures.  Several fun activities are conducted each year as part of this effort.

We believe that all we are and all we have are gifts from God.  For the health of our souls, God calls upon each of us to return a portion of that which has been so freely given.

As stewards of God's bounty, we commit by faith to give freely, generously, and joyously of our time, talent, and treasure.  We invite everyone to join us in the celebration of God's loving goodness.

Always, what God seeks is not our possessions, but us.
